Name: Lucas
Canon: Pokémon Platinum
Canon Point: After the Distortion World mess, before challenging Volkner.
History: he's the protag
Personality: Lucas is something of an anomaly among children his age. While he's excited to get his first Pokémon, it isn't because he loves them but because he loves what they are capable of. He isn't a very excitable boy, in comparison to his always moving friend, and while he doesn't prefer to take the scenic walk he definitely doesn't mind annoying his best friend by taking his time when he feels like it. You find a lot like that. Like items. And interesting tidbits of information. Generally, he is a content person who finds a thrill in winning and getting praise as any kid does.
However, this twists rapidly through his journey as he becomes less content with the lack of challenge posed by many of his opponents and he seeks our thrills and people who can make him feel alive. One of those is his rival, who never fails to give him trouble in battle, and some select Gym Leaders thus far. Other than that? No one. Even Cyrus, who of all people Lucas thought would be a well-won battle full of excitement and fear, was nothing but a pest in the end. It's due to this immense power of his Pokémon that he starts to believe that if he wants something, he'll take it, and if he wants to do something he should do it simply because he's able to. Because no one can stop him from doing it - not after he beat the Pokémon that ruled the Distortion world, Giratina. This way of thinking comes out in how he treats others as if they're beneath him, as if they're lucky to have met and battled against him, while still maintaining an irritating air of modesty.
But of course that isn't true. Behind this facade of his, this 'ideal person', lies a boy with shaky confidence who is easily pushed over when he loses. He despairs so much because he didn't think someone could beat him, throwing something like a fit and lashing out at any besides his closest of friends that tries to approach him. Lucas doesn't see a problem in being this way, either, since he'll eventually recover and delude himself into knowing that it wasn't his fault or his Pokémon's fault at them losing, but the fault of their opponent or conditions or the day. He sees himself as completely blameless.
His Pokémon are especially important to him. He's not outwardly affectionate towards them, but he did manage to evolve his Togepi into a Togetic and the Riolu he received from Riley into a Lucario. They're well taken care of, fed, bathed, groomed, etc, though he doesn't give them treats willy nilly.
Lucas's aloof, even annoyed, attitude towards others hides a side that wants to protect people and Pokémon. When faced with the news of Team Galactic's capture of the three Lake Guardians, he wasted no time in going to their Veilstone City headquarters and wasting them, ruthless as he commanded his team to attack not only the opponent's Pokémon but them as well. People who hurt Pokémon are unforgivable. Naturally, with his entrance into Avalar's world, his protection will include any creature that doesn't seem like it can defend itself. Unless they have some sort of purpose to being offed. You know.
In addition to this, he has no qualms against using others to his own benefit. They, like his Pokémon, have their limits and they're not necessarily to blame for it. The striking thing is that humans can grow and change for better or worse and it's always something that tosses a wrench in whatever small-time scheme Lucas has cooked up in his boredom. But, more or less, once he understands a person's beliefs and motivations he can usually guide them as he sees fit. Not always in a good way. Sometimes, but not always.

First-Person: [The orb is kind of cute, Lucas supposes. He'd been able to compose himself and meet a few others in the same predictament as he, and if this thing worked the same as his Pokétch there would be little trouble in using the device. Though the broadcasting to pretty much everyone leaves him a little at loss for words at first, and once he finds his voice it's kind of waning and even slightly nervous.]
Hello. My name is Lucas, and I've had my questions answered. However, would someone mind pointing me in the direction of an area with an abundant amount of electricity? And fish. Perhaps a portal that leads home. [Lucas snorts.] Seeing as I've already fixed a catastrophic situation from happening in my own world, I see no issue in fixing this world's as well before returning to Sinnoh. I only need to situate myself.
[He pauses and feels Nala push against his hand. Pat pat. It's just like the interviews back home, it's just like the interviews back home, just talk and you'll be fine.]
... I just hope you'll find it in your hearts to feel grateful for the gift you've just been given.
Third-Person: So this is where he'd ended up... Having stepped through the portal leading out of the Distortion World, Lucas can say he's rather surprised to find he's nowhere. The suspension in the air only lasts a moment as he feels himself drop and he almost yells when he hits the water. Panic surges through him and he lets out his Golduck, coughing as he's brought to air and then to shore.
"What a warm welcome." He mutters dryly. Donald, the Golduck, laughs and dives back into the water to retrieve something from the bottom. He returns with a book, which Lucas gives a brief skim before tossing it back in. "Don't bother. Books are for people who need help adapting and adjusting - and we're neither."
He was thankful that the area was warm, anyway, almost summer hot. The trainer sheds his winter coat and sits down, jerking away at the buzzing sound of a purple dragonfly greeting him. What was it? Some kind of Pokémon or... No, if he had stepped out of that torn world into a new one, then it could be a different sort of creature entirely. Regardless, it looks happy and buzzes excitedly about him. Lucas swats it away and Donald snaps his bill around the bug, watching as the dragonfly wiggled out partially and spitting it out at the trainer. The boy gives him a stern look, but smiles and flicks it back at the Golduck.
Well, it's one way to waste time as he dries off.
